MOANA, the performance cruising catamaran Outremer 5X (hull #2), is available for sale.
The 5X was Winner of European Boat of the Year by all EU magazines in 2013 and Best Sailing Boat in the USA in 2014, made for fast, yet comfortable and very safe navigation.
Her first owners, both professional sailors ex-Whitbread and VOR, made her comfortable but without excessive added weight in order not to alter her Outremer DNA. On the other hand, they picked among the best available navigation and communications equipment, sails, rigging and deck hardware in order to ensure robustness as well as fast and safe passages.
Moana comes in the 4 cabins version, ideal for a cruising family and/or plenty of friends. On port are a 180cm wide double bed aft, a heads/bathroom, an office, a front cabin with a single bed and a bathroom/shower forward. On starboard are a 180cm wide double bed aft, separate bathroom/shower and heads,

Embarking on a world voyage in 2012, Moana crossed the Atlantic and the Pacific; her second owners took her from New Caledonia to Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, Fiji, Vanuatu and French Polynesia. Upon concluding their cruising program in Papeete, her owners decided to ship her back to Europe via cargo ship. Therefore, Moana is luying in South of France and will wait there for the new owners who will take her on new adventures. She is suitable for all types of sailing areas and will provide you with autonomy, comfort and safety.
Moana was hauled out for detailed inspection and repairs as required in 2016 (Boatworks, AUS), 2017 (Norsand, NZ) and 2018 (Norsand, NZ). Additionally, the mast was un-stepped and the rigging underwent a full Level C inspection/testing/repairs by Doyle Rigging in Auckland in January 2018.
And finally, completely inspected and serviced in Canet en Roussillon (France ) in 2019.
Moana is a proven, capable blue water cruiser with lots of options, meticulously maintained. Every system is extensively documented from a user’s perspective. Benefit from the many small and large improvements made over the years!

Rigging and deck hardware :
All manoeuvres can be carried out by one person as all halyards, reef lines, sheets, etc. are led back to the cockpit. Further details:
- Carbon mast from Axxon Composites with Kevlar shrouds, rod stays and rod diamonds,
- 7 Harken winches, two of which electrical,
- All other deck hardware by Harken, carbon tillers, helming seats,
- Spade 35 kg main anchor, Fortress 32 kg “second main anchor”,
- 100 m anchor rodes incl. 40 m of 12mm stainless steel chain,
- 7 Certec inflatable fenders.
Sails :
- All sails by Incidence, fully serviced in New Zealand in January 2018,
- Mainsail of 127sqm made of Hydranet, fully battened with a square top,
- Genoa of 73 sqm and jib of 47 sqm made of Hydranet mounted on Facnor furlers,
- ORC storm jib of 24 sqm made of Hydranet,
- 2 furling gennakers made of 2,2 oz Stormlite, one 145 sqm and the other 195 sqm,
- Lazy bag and lazy jacks new in 2017.
Propulsion :
- 2x 55hp Volvo Penta diesel engines with sail drives and 3-blade folding propellers (1,450 hours as of November 2019),
- Diesel fuel capacity 2x330l tanks.
Navigation, Electronics and Comms :
- NKE sailing instruments and autopilot (assisted by two high resolution compasses and two Jefa hydraulic motors for full redundancy), jumbo displays on the mast, 3 pilot displays,
- Furuno Navnet 12.1’ 3D plotter, GPS, mast-mounted radar, Duplex AIS, and high resolution echo sounder with fish finder function,
